Removal Procedure

Notice: To prevent internal damage to the flexible coupling of the catalytic converter assembly, the converter must be supported. The vertical movement at the rear of the catalytic converter assembly must not exceed 6 degrees up or down.

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts.
  3. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  4. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.

  5. Object Number: 1645182  Size: SH
  6. Remove the catalytic converter to muffler bolts.
  7. Remove and discard the catalytic converter to muffler gasket.

  8. Object Number: 1645185  Size: SH
  9. Remove the catalytic converter (1).
  10. Remove the HO2S . Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 Replacement .

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the HO2S . Refer to Heated Oxygen Sensor 2 Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 1645185  Size: SH
  3. Install the catalytic converter (1).

  4. Object Number: 1645182  Size: SH
  5. Install a NEW catalytic converter to muffler gasket.
  6. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  7. Install the catalytic converter to muffler bolts.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 45 N·m (33 lb ft).

  9. Install the catalytic converter to exhaust manifold nuts.
  10. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  11. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
  12. Install the CPA retainer.
  13. Lower the vehicle.
