J 39637 Wiper Arm Puller

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 512035  Size: SH
  1. Turn the ignition switch to the ACCY position.
  2. Turn the wiper switch to the DELAY position.
  3. Turn the ignition OFF when the wiper arms are in the innerwipe position and not moving.
  4. Disconnect the washer hose from the washer nozzle.
  5. Remove the cover from the wiper arm nut.
  6. Remove the wiper arm nut from the wiper transmission pivot shaft.
  7. Using J 39637 , remove the wiper arm from the wiper transmission drive shaft.
  8. Remove the wiper blade from the wiper arm. Refer to Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement .
  9. Clean the knurls of the wiper transmission pivot shaft with a soft wire brush.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the wiper blade onto the wiper arm. Refer to Windshield Wiper Blade Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 512035  Size: SH
  3. Install the wiper arm onto the wiper transmission pivot shaft.
  4. Important: Hold the driver side wiper arm blade tip to the target mark located on the passenger side of the glass while tighten the nut to specification.

  5. Hold the passenger side wiper arm blade tip to the target mark located on the driver side of the glass while tightening the nut to specification.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Install the wiper arm nut onto the wiper transmission pivot shaft.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the nut to 48 N·m (35 lb ft).

  9. Install the cover on the wiper arm nut.
  10. Important: Lubricate the washer hose with the windshield washer solvent to ease installation on the washer nozzle.

  11. Install the washer hose to the washer nozzle.
  12. Inspect the wipers for proper operation.
