Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

Go to Diagnostic System Check - Lighting Systems

1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
2. Turn ON the park lamps.
3. Turn ON the fog lamps.

Do both fog lamps illuminate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Did only one lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 10

Go to Step 4

1. Install a scan tool.
2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
3. With the scan tool, command the fog lamp relay on and off.

Does the fog lamp relay turn on and off with each command?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 8

1. Remove the headlamp switch.
2. With a test lamp probe between battery positive voltage and the fog lamp switch circuit at the headlamp switch.
3. Turn the fog lamp switch ON.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 9

Go to Step 6

Inspect for a short to B+ or an open in the fog lamp switchd circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 7

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the headlamp switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 11

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connector of the fog lamp relay. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Go to Step 12

Inspect for a poor connection at the harness connectors of the underhood fuse block. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 14

Repair the open in the inoperative fog lamp power supply circuit or ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the repair?

Go to Step 14

Replace the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 14

Replace the fog lamp relay. Refer to Relay Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 14

Replace the underhood fuse block. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 14

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.

Did you correct the condition?

System OK
