Circuit Description

The BCM controls the following courtesy lamps when the door switch is ON and an door is opened:

    • The instrument panel courtesy lamp, LH
    • The instrument panel courtesy lamp, RH
    • The inside rear view mirror lamps
    • The cargo lamp
    • The roof rail reading lamp, LH
    • The roof rail reading lamp, RH
    • The sunshade lighted vanity mirror lamps, LH
    • The sunshade lighted vanity mirror lamps, LH

The BCM monitors all but the sunshade lighted vanity mirror lamps for a open in the ground circuit.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Voltage supplied to the module is in the normal operating range (approximately 10-16V).

Conditions for Setting the DTC
    • The BCM detects an open in the controlled ground circuit of the courtesy lamps.
    • The condition is present for more then 3 ms.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

The BCM stores DTC B1354 in memory.

Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Turn the door switch to the ON position.
  3. Turn the IP dimmer switch to HIGH.
  4. Open the drivers door.

Do the courtesy lamps turn ON?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Test the courtesy lamps control circuit for a open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 5

Go to Step 4

Important: Perform the set up procedure for the BCM control module. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control Systems.

Replace the BCM control module. Refer to Body Control Module Replacement in Body Control System.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 5

  1. Use the scan tool in order to clear the DTCs.
  2. Operate the vehicle within the Conditions for Running the DTC as specified in the supporting text.

Does the DTC reset?

Go to Step 2
