Makes 🢒 Buick 🢒 2002 🢒 Rendezvous - FWD 🢒 Body and Accessories 🢒 Wipers/Washer Systems 🢒 Multifunction, Turn Signal, and Hazard Switch Replacement - On Vehicle

Removal Procedure
  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the steering column trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  3. Disconnect the multifunction switch electrical connectors from the multifunction switch.

  4. Remove the wiring harness  (1) from the steering column harness strap (2).
  5. Disconnect the multifunction switch electrical connectors from the steering column wiring harness.

    6. Object Number: 322982 Size: SH
  6. Remove the multifunction switch retaining screws (1).
  7. Remove the multifunction switch (2) from the steering column.
  8. Remove the SIR coil from the steering column shaft. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in SIR.

Installation Procedure
  1. Install the multifunction switch (2) to the steering column tilt head.
  2. Be sure that the electrical contact of the turn signal switch (2) rests on the horn ring.

    3. Notice: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Notice in the Preface section.

  3. Install the multifunction switch screws (1).

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the multifunction switch screws to 7 N·m (62 lb in).

  4. Install the 2 electrical connectors (2) of the multifunction switch into the bulkhead connector.
  5. Connect the multifunction switch connector to the SIR coil connector.

  6. Attach the wire harness (1) to the steering column with new wire harness straps.
  7. Install the wire harness (1) to the wire harness strap.
  8. Install the SIR coil to the steering column shaft. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in SIR.
  9. Install the upper and lower trim covers. Refer to Steering Column Trim Covers Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Tilt.
  10. Enable the SIR. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
