Coolant Heater Cord Replacement LA1

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 476157  Size: SH

    Important: The strap that secures the coolant heater cord to the diagonal brace is reusable. Do NOT cut this strap in order to remove it.

  1. Press the coolant heater strap retainer tab in order to remove coolant heater cord strap.
  2. Use wire cutters in order to remove the remaining coolant heater cord straps from the engine wiring harness.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

  5. Use wire cutters in order to remove the 3 coolant heater cord lower straps (1) from the engine wiring harness.
  6. Remove the right front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  7. Remove the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.

  8. Object Number: 476150  Size: SH
  9. Remove the engine coolant heater cord from the engine coolant heater.
  10. Remove the engine coolant heater cord.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 476150  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine coolant heater cord to the engine coolant heater.
  2. Notice: The heater cord must not touch the engine, hot pipes, manifold, or any moving parts. Route the cord to the left front of the engine compartment securing with tie straps as necessary to prevent damage.

  3. Properly route the coolant heater cord.

  5. Install new tie straps (1) in order to secure the coolant heater cord to the engine wiring harness.
  6. Install the right engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement in Body Front End.
  7. Install the right front wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Lower the vehicle.

  10. Install the reusable strap in order to secure the coolant heater cord to the diagonal brace.

Coolant Heater Cord Replacement LY7

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1395437  Size: SH
  1. Remove the air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement Engine Controls - 3.6L (LY7).
  2. Remove the coolant (block) heater cord from the transmission fill tube.
  3. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  5. Remove the engine coolant (block) heater cord from the engine coolant heater.
  6. Remove the engine coolant (block) heater cord.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1395437  Size: SH
  1. Install the engine coolant (block) heater cord above the transmission.
  2. Install the engine coolant (block) heater cord to the engine coolant heater.
  3. Install the catalytic converter. Refer to Catalytic Converter Replacement in Engine Exhaust.
  4. Lower the vehicle.
  5. Install the coolant (block) heater cord to the transmission fill tube.
  6. Install the air inlet duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement Engine Controls - 3.6L (LY7).
