J 39400-A Halogen Leak Detector

Removal Procedure

  1. Recover the refrigerant from the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 887653  Size: SH
  4. Remove the receiver dehydrator upper bracket bolt.
  5. Remove the receiver dehydrator lower mounting bolts.
  6. Remove the receiver dehydrator.
  7. Remove and discard the sealing washers.

Installation Procedure

  1. If replacing the receiver dehydrator, add the specified amount of PAG oil directly to the receiver dehydrator. Refer to Refrigerant System Capacities .
  2. Install new sealing washers to the receiver dehydrator.

  3. Object Number: 887653  Size: SH
  4. Connect the receiver dehydrator to the condenser. Refer to Sealing Washer Replacement .
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the receiver dehydrator lower mounting bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  8. Install the receiver dehydrator upper bracket bolt.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  10. Install the condenser. Refer to Condenser Replacement .
  11. Evacuate and recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  12. Leak test the fittings of the component using J 39400-A .
