Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Verify that the power door locks inoperative fault is present.

Does the power door locks system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

  1. Connect a scan tool.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the door lock switch parameter in the Body Control Module (BCM) data list.

Does the scan tool display Inactive?

Go to Step 4

With a scan tool, observe the door unlock switch parameter in the BCM data list.

Does the scan tool display Inactive?

Go to Step 5

  1. With a scan tool, observe the door lock switch parameter in the BCM data list.
  2. Activate the driver door lock switch, then the front passenger door lock switch to the LOCK position.

Does the scan tool display Active when the switches are activated?

Go to Step 6

  1. With a scan tool, observe the door unlock switch parameter in the BCM data list.
  2. Activate the driver door lock switch, then the front passenger door lock switch to the UNLOCK position.

Does the scan tool display Active when the switches are activated?

Are all of the door locks inoperative?

Is the driver door lock the only inoperative lock?

Test the driver door lock switch lock signal circuit of the appropriate door lock switch harness connector for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door lock switch unlock signal circuit of the appropriate door lock switch harness connector for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door lock switch lock signal circuit of the appropriate door lock switch harness connector for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the driver door lock switch unlock signal circuit of the appropriate door lock switch harness connector for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Test the door lock actuator lock and unlock control circuits for a short to ground or an open.
  2. Test the driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit for a short to ground.

  1. Test the driver door lock actuator unlock control circuit for an open.
  2. Test the door lock actuator lock control circuit to the driver door lock actuator for an open.
