FRONT WINDOW SCRAPING NOISE WHEN ROLLING GLASS DOWN

SUBJECT: FRONT WINDOW SCRAPING NOISE WHEN ROLLING GLASS DOWN - MANUAL OR POWER - (REPLACE WINDOW GUIDE RETAINER)

MODELS: 1993-94 BUICK REGAL SEDAN 1993-94 OLDSMOBILE CUTLASS SUPREME SEDAN 1993-94 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX SEDAN

CONDITION:

SOME OWNERS MAY COMMENT THAT THEIR FRONT DOOR GLASS MAKES A SCRAPING NOISE WHEN ROLLING THE GLASS DOWN FROM THE FULL UP POSITION.

CORRECTION:

REPLACE THE FRONT WINDOW GUIDE RETAINER, THE NEW RETAINER HAS BEEN REDESIGNED AT THE TOP TO PROVIDE MORE CLEARANCE (SEE FIGURE 1).

DESCRIPTION P/N

RETAINER RH 10273989 RETAINER LH 10273990

PROCEDURE:

1. REMOVE DOOR TRIM.

2. REMOVE THE WATER DEFLECTOR TO GAIN ACCESS TO THE WINDOW GUIDE RETAINING BOLTS.

3. REMOVE RETAINING BOLTS AND GUIDE AND DISCARD GUIDE.

4. REINSTALL NEW WINDOW GUIDE RETAINER.

ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE: FOR VEHICLES WITH A SLOTTED LOWER RETAINING HOLE, FOLLOW STEP FIVE (5). VEHICLES WITH A LOWER RETAINING HOLE RATHER THAN A SLOT, FOLLOW STEP SIX (6).

SLOTTED LOWER RETAINING HOLE 5. WITH THE RETAINING BOLTS HAND TIGHT, RUN THE GLASS TO THE FULL UP POSITION AND SECURE THE UPPER ATTACHMENT BOLT. RUN THE GLASS TO THE FULL DOWN POSITION AND SECURE THE LOWER BOLT.

LOWER RETAINING HOLE 6. WITH THE RETAINING BOLTS HAND TIGHT, RUN THE GLASS TO THE FULL UP POSITION AND TIGHTEN THE UPPER ATTACHMENT BOLT, THEN TIGHTEN THE LOWER BOLT.
