PAINTING FLEX. PLASTIC PARTS VEHICLES W/PAINTED E/P OR TPO

VEHICLES AFFECTED: All Vehicles with Painted E/P or TPO -------------------------------------

Replacement parts can be received painted or unpainted. Different refinishing procedures are recommended for each case.

Flexible plastic parts received unpainted can be successfully coated by use of a polypropylene adhesion promoter followed by a flexible topcoat used as per manufacturer's directions.

Flexible plastic parts received painted (usually black), such as Chevette and Acadian fascias and bumper extensions, may wrinkle when being topcoated. Successful colour coating can be obtained without stripping the existing finish by the use of 3M Flexible Parts Coating (3M part number 05905). The 3M material acts as a barrier coat between the original finish and the one being applied. Once the 3M coating has been applied (per label directions), a flexible topcoat can be used successfully.
