TRANSFERRING ENGINE DRESS GOODWRENCH DIESEL 5.7L,4.3L

Models Affected: All Equipped With Diesel Engines

When transferring certain engine dress items from a removed diesel engine to a Goodwrench diesel engine, certain precautions should be observed. For example, our experience has shown that stuck piston rings generally result from an excessive amount of EGR. Therefore, in the event of a sticking piston ring condition in the engine being replaced, the following items should be checked, cleaned or replaced before being transferred to the Goodwrench diesel engine:

EGR Valve VRV Valve EPR Valve CDR Valve Venitilation Filter Veritilation Pipe and Elbows Air Crossover Intake Manifold

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
