Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the spare tire carrier. Refer to Spare Wheel Hoist Replacement .
  2. Remove the rear fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 752485  Size: SH
  4. Disconnect the trailer/towing receptacle electrical connector.
  5. Rotate the trailer/towing receptacle assembly counterclockwise and remove from the vehicle.

  6. Object Number: 752281  Size: SH
  7. Remove the 4 rearward bolts that retain the impact bar assembly to the frame rails.
  8. While an assistant holds the impact bar (1) assembly in place, remove the remaining 2 retaining bolts.
  9. Remove the impact bar (1) assembly from the vehicle with an assistant.

Installation Procedure

  1. Position the impact bar (1) assembly to the vehicle with an assistant.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts that retain the rear impact bar to the frame.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the rear impact bar bolts to 364 N·m (268 lb ft).

  5. Install the trailer/towing receptacle assembly to the bracket and rotate clockwise until fully seated.
  6. Connect the trailer/towing receptacle electrical connector.
  7. Install the rear fascia. Refer to Rear Bumper Fascia Replacement .
  8. Install the spare tire carrier. Refer to Spare Wheel Hoist Replacement .
