Connector End View Reference: Entertainment Connector End Views

DEFINITION: Audio distortion is present in all speakers with all audio sources in vehicles equipped with Rear Seat Entertainment, Digital Radio Receiver (DRR), or Non-Class 2 Audio Amplifier.

Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System

Always perform the Entertainment System Diagnostic System Check before proceeding with these diagnostic procedures. Refer to Diagnostic System Check - Entertainment System .

Important: The following information lists the most probable cause of the concern to the least probable cause followed by the appropriate test for that condition. If the list leads to the replacement of a component, always inspect for a poor connection before proceeding with the replacement. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Right or left audio signal (+) open or shorted to battery positive voltage. Test the appropriate right or left audio signal (+) for an open or a short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  2. Audio common signal open or shorted to battery positive voltage. Test the audio common signal for an open or a short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  3. Audio output of the radio to the Non-Class 2 Amplifier open, short to ground or short to battery positive voltage. Test the audio outputs of the radio for an open, short to ground or short to battery positive voltage. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
  4. Audio output of the DVD player. Disconnect the DVD player, if the distortion is eliminated, replace the DVD player. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
  5. Audio output of the Digital Radio Receiver. Disconnect the DRR, if the distortion is eliminated, replace the DRR. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Replacement .
