.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

Some 2003-05 Buick Park Avenues, 2003-04 Buick LeSabre and 2003-04 Pontiac Bonnevilles may experience owner complaints of engine vibrations that can be felt in the steering wheel and in the drivers seat. The vibrations are more noticeable when the vehicles are cold and in reverse.

.

Recommendation/Instructions:

To address the condition the following steps are suggested:

  1. Install alignment shims on the powertrain side mounts, transmission side and engine side. Start with the smallest shim and work your way up. Number of shims will vary from vehicle to vehicle.
  2. Make sure P/S hose is not hard against the engine mount.
  3. Install the steering wheel mass dampener used on the 2002 Park Avenue Part #16866989. Install the dampener as you would on the 2002 model vehicle at the inside base of the steering wheel.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
