Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. Determines if this is the correct chart for the symptom.

  2. The door modules connectors C2 and the retained accessory power (RAP) relay share this same battery positive voltage circuit. Disconnecting the RAP relay in this step will isolate the battery positive voltage circuit to the door modules connectors C2, and eliminate the possibility of a RAP function causing the test lamp to illuminate, which could result in a possible false diagnosis of the circuit.

  3. This step isolates which door module, or which battery positive voltage circuit associated with connectors C2 is shorted to ground.

Important: Each door module has its own battery supply circuit, associated with module connectors C2, but the circuits are all fed by the same PWR WDO circuit breaker located in the underhood fuse block.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Attempt to operate the power windows from the driver door switch and from each of the passenger doors.

Does any window operate?

Go to Symptoms - Doors

  1. Remove the PWR WDO circuit breaker from the underhood fuse block.
  2. Probe the PWR WDO circuit breaker battery supply terminal with a test lamp connected to ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the retained accessory power (RAP) relay located in the rear fuse block.
  2. Connect the test lamp between the two terminals of the PWR WDO circuit breaker in the underhood fuse block.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Operate any one of the power window switches while observing the test lamp.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 14

Disconnect each door module one at a time, while observing the test lamp.

Does the test lamp go out after any module is disconnected?

Test the battery positive voltage circuit associated with door module connector C2 of all door modules for an open.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 15

Inspect for a poor connections at the harness connector of the suspect door module. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the underhood fuse block. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the poor connection or an open in the PWR WDO circuit breaker battery supply circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the short to ground in the battery positive voltage circuit associated with door module connector C2. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the door module that is internally shorted to ground. Refer to Door Control Module Replacement - Front or Door Control Module Replacement - Rear .

Replace the underhood fuse block. Refer to Underhood Electrical Center or Junction Block Replacement in Wiring Systems.

Replace the PWR WDO circuit breaker.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
