Did you perform the Lighting Systems Diagnostic System Check?

Open the rear compartment.

Does the rear compartment lamp operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the courtesy lamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Courtesy Lamps Inoperative

1. Position the courtesy lamp switch in the ON position.
2. Remove the bulb from the rear compartment lamp.
3. Connect a test lamp between the courtesy lamps supply voltage circuit of the rear compartment lamp bulb and the rear compartment lamp control circuit of the rear compartment lamp bulb.

Did the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 8

Go to Step 5

Test the courtesy lamps supply voltage circuit of the rear compartment lamp bulb for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Go to Step 6

Test the rear compartment lamp control circuit of the rear compartment lamp bulb for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 12

Test the ground circuit of the rear compartment lid ajar switch for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the bulb of the rear compartment lamp. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Replace the rear compartment lamp bulb. Refer to Rear Compartment Courtesy Lamp Replacement .

Did you complete the replacement?

Replace the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement in Body Rear End.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
