Battery Replacement Top Post

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable from the negative battery post. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .

  2. Object Number: 800514  Size: SH
  3. Disconnect the positive battery cable from the positive battery post.

  4. Object Number: 723076  Size: SH
  5. Remove the battery retainer nut and battery retainer.

  6. Object Number: 800515  Size: SH
  7. Remove the battery.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the battery into the vehicle.

  2. Object Number: 723076  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the battery retainer and nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the battery retainer nut to 17 N·m (13 lb ft).

  5. Install the nut securing the positive battery cable to the positive battery post.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the battery cable nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  7. Connect the battery negative cable to the negative battery post. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection .
