INFO. ON C/C SURGE CAUSED BY LOOSE RELUCTOR RING ON FINAL

THIS IS A MONTHLY SERVICE NEWSLETTER ARTICLE. THIS BULLETIN IS NOT INTENDED FOR PUBLICATION.

SUBJECT: INFORMATION ON C/C SURGE CAUSED BY LOOSE RELUCTOR RING ON FINAL DRIVE

MODELS: ALL 1991-98 BUICKS WITH 4T60E TRANSAXLE

IF A VEHICLE WITH CRUISE CONTROL HAS A SURGE CONDITION ONLY WHEN THE CRUISE IS SET AND ALL OTHER PARAMETERS ARE NORMAL, CHECK THE TIGHTNESS OF THE RELUCTOR RING TO THE FINAL DRIVE. THIS SHOULD BE A PRESS FIT. IF THE RELUCTOR RING IS LOOSE IT CAN SPIN, ALLOWING SLIPPING OF THE RELUCTOR RING CAUSING THE SURGE. WITH THE VEHICLE HOT, REMOVE THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR FROM THE TRANSMISSION CASE AND --CAREFULLY-- PRY ON THE RELUCTOR RING TO TRY TO MOVE IT. IF THE RING MOVES, IT WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED USING CURRENT SERVICE INFORMATION.
