GAP BETWEEN TAIL LAMP/FASCIA (INSTALL FOAM SUPPORTS)

SUBJECT: GAP BETWEEN TAIL LAMP AND FASCIA (INSTALL FOAM SUPPORTS)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 "C" MODELS

CONDITION:

---------- Some of the 1991 Park Avenue Ultra models may exhibit a sag in the rear fascia. The gap will appear between the tail lamp and the fascia. This gap may appear at either end of the fascia or across the entire rear of the vehicle.

CORRECTION:

----------- To correct this condition foam supports, part number #25609660, have been released. Two of these supports are required to repair the condition.

1. Locate the centre support on the impact bar inside the fascia. Clean the impact bar on both sides of the centre bracket by wiping down with soapy water to assure the adhesive on the foam support will stick.

2. Push the top of the foam support up against the fascia, then roll the support bottom onto the top of the impact bar. Assure the foam support sits squarely on the impact bar so the adhesive will adhere firmly to the impact bar. (See Illustration) The foam supports should touch the centre bracket of the impact bar.

3. Push the top surface of the fascia down lightly to assure the foam support is adhered to the impact bar.

If vehicle is repaired under warranty use: Labour time - 0.2 hour

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
