REAR COMPARTMENT FRT. PANEL MISALIGNED (NEW PROCEDURE)

SUBJECT: REAR COMPARTMENT FRONT PANEL MISALIGNED (NEW PROCEDURES) (Revised to Include Illustration)

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1991 CADILLAC 'C' MODELS

Some 1991 Cadillac "C" vehicles may exhibit a condition of the rear compartment front panel (Tulip) being misaligned.

To correct this condition the following procedures should be followed:

NOTE: Prior to any adjustment, assure the plastic panel supports are properly seated on the mounting studs.

To adjust the panel fore/aft. ----------------------------- Remove the panel and relocate the supports (near glass) to any one of 3 available mounting slots. Selecting the correct slot will allow movement of the panel approximately 1mm in either direction. If greater fore/aft movement is necessary, remove the panel and shave up to 2mm from the middle leg. Remove only enough to allow proper panel alignment.

To adjust up/down. ------------------ Loosen all attachments, move the panel to the desired location and tighten.

If greater up/down movement is required: Remove the panel and replace or reinstall the supports as necessary. Install the panel to desired location.

For vehicles repaired under warranty use: Labour time - .3 hour

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
