Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the case extension. Refer to Case Extension Replacement .

  2. Object Number: 11841  Size: SH
  3. Rotate the manual shaft (16) counterclockwise in order to place the transmission in park and prevent the differential from rotating.

  4. Object Number: 687629  Size: SH
  5. Remove the four 15 mm differential bolts (119).
  6. Remove the differential carrier (110).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 15506  Size: SH
  1. Locate the dowels on the final drive carrier (100) and insert these dowels into the holes in the differential carrier (110) for proper assembly.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the differential carrier bolts (119).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts using a star pattern to 70-76 N·m (52-56 lb ft).

  5. Install the case extension. Refer to Case Extension Replacement .
