    • J 23129 Universal Seal Remover
    • J 6125-1B Slide Hammer Adapter
    • J 6125-B Slide Hammer
    • J 34115 Sprocket Bearing Installer

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Remove the left stabilizer shaft link from the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  4. Remove the left tie rod end from the left steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
  5. Remove the left lower ball joint from the left steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  6. Disconnect the left drive axle from the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  7. Secure the left drive axle to the left steering knuckle and strut.

  8. Object Number: 49300  Size: SH
  9. Use the J 6125-B , J 6125-1B , and the J 23129 to remove the seal (409).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 190634  Size: SH
  1. Use a light wipe of transaxle fluid to lubricate the seal lip (409).
  2. Use the J 34115 to install a new seal.
  3. Important: Carefully guide the axle shaft past the lip seal. Do NOT allow the shaft splines to contact any portion of the seal lip surface.

  4. Connect the drive axle to the transaxle. Refer to Wheel Drive Shaft Replacement .
  5. Install the left lower ball joint to the left steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
  6. Install the left tie rod end to the left steering knuckle. Refer to Rack and Pinion Outer Tie Rod End Replacement .
  7. Install the left stabilizer shaft link to the left lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
  8. Install the left front tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Fill the transaxle to the proper level. Refer to Fluid Capacity Specifications .
  11. Inspect the transaxle fluid level. Refer to Transmission Fluid Check .
  12. Inspect for fluid leaks.
