Preliminary Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle .
  2. Remove the tire and wheel. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation .
  3. Disconnect the park brake cable from the brake caliper. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Left Side or Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement - Right Side .

Guide Pin Bolt (Qty: 2)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tighten
34 N·m (25 lb ft)

Brake Caliper

Tip

  1. DO NOT re-use the gaskets for the brake hose bolt. Use NEW gaskets only.
  2. Cap or plug the brake hose to prevent brake fluid loss or contamination.
  3. Bleed the brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding .
  4. With the engine OFF, gradually apply the brake pedal to approximately 2/3  of its travel distance.
  5. Slowly release the brake pedal.
  6. Wait 15 seconds, then repeat steps 4-5 until a firm brake pedal is obtained. This will properly seat the brake caliper pistons and brake pads.
  7. Fill the master cylinder reservoir to the proper level. Refer to Master Cylinder Reservoir Filling .
  8. Burnish the pads and rotors. Refer to Brake Pad and Rotor Burnishing .
