Circuit/System Description

The vehicle navigation radio provides verbal directions to the driver through the radio speakers, The navigation radio receives an audio voice signal from the vehicle communication interface module (VCIM).

Circuit/System Testing

  1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the radio harness connector X2 and VCIM harness connector X3.
  2. Test for less than 1 volt on the mono out circuit radio harness connector terminal 7and ground.
  3. If greater than specified value, repair short to voltage.
  4. Test for greater than 1 ohm between the mono out circuit radio harness connector terminal 7 and ground.
  5. If less than specified value, repair short to ground.
  6. Test for less than 1 ohm between the mono out circuit radio harness connector terminal 7 and the microphone out signal circuit VCIM harness connector terminal 1.
  7. If greater than specified value, repair open circuit.
  8. Test for less than 1 volt on the low reference circuit radio harness connector terminal 15 and ground.
  9. If greater than specified value, repair short to voltage.
  10. Test for greater than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit radio harness connector terminal 15 and ground.
  11. If less than specified value, repair short to ground.
  12. Test for less than 1 ohm between the low reference circuit radio harness connector terminal 15 and the low reference signal circuit VCIM harness connector terminal 2.
  13. If greater than specified value, repair open circuit.
  14. If all circuits test normal, replace the radio.
