Component Name

Caution: Do not strike or jolt the inflatable restraint front end sensor. Before applying power to the front end sensor make sure that it is securely fastened. Failure to observe the correct installation procedure could cause SIR deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

Preliminary Procedures

    • Disable the supplemental inflatable restraint (SIR) system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling .
    • Remove the lower air deflector. Refer to Front Air Deflector Replacement .
    • Unclip the brake lines from the frame.
    •  Unbolt the brake pressure modulator valve bracket from the frame and reposition to access the sensor bolts. DO NOT DISCONNECT BRAKE LINES. Refer to Brake Pressure Modulator Valve Bracket Replacement .

Forward Discriminating Sensor Bolt (Qty: 2)

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

Tip
Loosen the bolts in order to remove the sensor. Bolts could be reverse threaded.

Tighten
8 N·m (71 lb in)

Tip

  1. Remove the connector position assurance (CPA) retainer.
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector.
