Did you perform the Lighting System Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Position the headlamp switch in the OFF position.
  3. Position the twilight delay switch in the midway position.
  4. Observe the headlamps.
  5. Cover the sunload sensor assembly.
  6. Turn OFF the ignition.

Does the twilight sentinel delay operate properly?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Do the daytime running lamps (DRL) and headlamps operate properly?

Go to Step 4

Go to Daytime Running Lamps (DRL) Inoperative or Headlamps Inoperative - Low Beams

  1. Install a scan tool.
  2. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  3. With a scan tool, observe the Ambient Light Sensor parameter in the instrument panel module (IPM) with CJ2 or climate control panel (CCP) with C67 Open/Short data list.
  4. Cover the sunload sensor assembly.

Does the Ambient Light Sensor parameter change?

Go to Step 6

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the sunload sensor assembly. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the IPM or the HVAC control module (CCP). Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the sunload sensor assembly. Refer to Sunload and Twilight Sentinel Sensor Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

Did you complete the replacement?

Go to Step 9

Important: After replacement perform the setup procedure for the IPM. Refer to Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration in Body Control System.

Replace the IPM or HVAC control module (CCP). Refer to Instrument Panel Module Replacement in Body Control System or HVAC Control Module Replacement in HVAC Systems - Manual.

Did you complete the replacement?

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
