Headlining Trim Panel Replacement With Sunroof

Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 662297  Size: SH
  1. Remove the passenger front bucket seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  2. Pull the door opening moldings down in order to clear headliner and the rear quarter trim. Refer to Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement .
  3. Remove the windshield pillar trim panel. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the center pillar trim. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Remove the overhead console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  8. Disconnect the rearview mirror electrical connectors.
  9. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .

  11. Disconnect the headliner wiring harness connector.
  12. Remove the wire harness from the rear upper quarter.

  13. Object Number: 288098  Size: SH

    Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  14. Pull the headliner down in order to release the headliner.
  15. Remove the headliner through the rear passenger door opening.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 288098  Size: SH
  1. Load the headliner into the vehicle through the rear passenger door opening.
  2. With the aid of an assistant, raise the headliner into position.
  3. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .

  7. Object Number: 107684  Size: SH
  8. Connect the headliner wiring harness connector.

  9. Object Number: 107683  Size: SH
  10. Route and secure the wiring harness to the rear upper quarter.
  11. Install the rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  12. Important: Ensure that the inside lip of the door opening weather-strip is properly seated to close out the headliner, sail panel, and pillar garnish moldings.

  13. Install the door opening weatherstrips in the door openings. Refer to Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement .
  14. Install the overhead console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  15. Connect the rear view mirror electrical connectors.
  16. Install the passenger front bucket seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .

Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Without Sunroof

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the passenger front seat. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket .
  2. Pull the door opening moldings down in order to clear headliner and the rear quarter trim. Refer to Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement .
  3. Remove the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  4. Remove the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  5. Remove the rear quarter upper garnish molding. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  6. Remove the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  7. Remove the overhead console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
  8. Remove the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  9. Disconnect the headliner electrical connectors.
  10. • At the rear view mirror.
    • Behind the rear quarter upper garnish moldings.

    Notice: Use care when removing and installing the headliner. If reusing the headliner lay the headliner down flat on a clean surface. Excessive bending will damage the headliner.

  11. Carefully pull the headliner down and cut the adhesive beads retaining the headliner to the cardboard insulator.

  13. With the aid of an assistant, remove the headliner through the rear passenger door opening.

Installation Procedure

  1. With the aid of an assistant, load the headliner into the vehicle through the rear passenger door opening.
  2. With the aid of an assistant, raise the headliner into position.
  3. Install the assist handles. Refer to Assist Handle Replacement .
  4. Install the sunshades. Refer to Sunshade Replacement .
  5. Install the windshield pillar garnish molding. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  6. Install the center pillar garnish molding. Refer to Center Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement .
  7. Connect the headliner wiring harness connectors.
  8. • Behind the rear quarter upper garnish moldings.
    • At the rear view mirror.
  9. Install the rear quarter upper trim panel. Refer to Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement .
  10. Important: Ensure that the inside lip of the door opening weather-strip is properly seated to close out the headliner, sail panel, and pillar garnish moldings.

  11. Install the door opening weather-strips in the door openings. Refer to Rear Door Opening Weatherstrip Replacement .
  12. Install the overhead console. Refer to Roof Console Replacement .
