Test Description

The number(s) below refer to the step number(s) on the diagnostic table.

  1. The horns need maximum current flow in order to operate properly. Inspect the circuits for faults that might restrict current flow.

Did you preform the Horns Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Disconnect the inoperative horn from the dual horn assembly.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the feed circuit and the ground circuit of the inoperative horn.
  3. Depress and hold the horn switch.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Test the feed circuit of the inoperative horn for a high resistance or an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Test the ground circuit of the inoperative horn for a high resistance or an a open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the inoperative horn. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Connect a 15 amp fused jumper wire between battery (B+) and the inoperative horn input.
  2. Connect another jumper wire between battery (B-) and the inoperative horn ground.

Test the feed and ground circuits of the inoperative horn for a high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
