Removal Procedure

    Caution: When you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, you must disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause air bag deployment, personal injury, or unnecessary SIR system repairs.

  1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
  2. Remove the windshield defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  3. Remove the IP upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .

  4. Object Number: 428508  Size: SH
  5. Remove the fasteners (1) from the HUD module (3) to the IP.
  6. Lift the HUD module (3) from the IP.
  7. Disconnect the electrical connector (2).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 428508  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector (2).
  2. Install the lower HUD module (3) into the IP.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Install the fasteners (1).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the fasteners to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  6. Install the IP upper trim pad. Refer to Instrument Panel Upper Trim Pad Replacement .
  7. Install the windshield defroster grille. Refer to Defroster Grille Replacement .
  8. Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
