POWER WINDOW SWITCH PLATE DISENGAGES FROM DOOR ARM. PAD

MODELS AFFECTED: 1989 LESABRES

CONDITION

Some 1989 LeSabres may exhibit a condition where the left and/or right power window switch plate will not stay locked into the armrest pad assembly.

CAUSE

This condition is caused by excessive material at the rear edge of the armrest pad assembly. See Figure 1.

CORRECTION

1. Remove switch plate using a thin bladed tool between armrest pad and rear of switch plate. Push tool forward to release switch plate retaining tab.

2. Carefully loosen trim material at rear edge of armrest assembly. Using a sharp knife orifice, remove 1.5mm stock from plastic housing at pad assembly.

3. Refold trim material into armrest assembly and check for proper engagement of switch plate into housing. Remove additional stock if required.

4. Using a trim adhesive, re-cement trim material into housing and reinstall switch plate.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
