Removal Procedure

Caution: Refer to Brake Fluid Irritant Caution in the Preface section.

Notice: Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 177372  Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake fluid level sensor.
  2. Disconnect the brake pipe fittings from the master cylinder.
  3. Cap the brake pipe fittings and plug the master cylinder outlet ports to prevent brake fluid loss and contamination.

  4. Remove master cylinder mounting nuts.
  5. Remove the master cylinder from the vehicle.
  6. Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 177372  Size: SH
  1. Bench bleed the master cylinder. Refer to Master Cylinder Bench Bleeding.
  2. Install the master cylinder to the vacuum brake booster.
  3. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  4. Install the master cylinder mounting nuts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  6. Connect the brake pipe fittings to the master cylinder.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe fittings to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Connect the brake fluid level sensor electrical connector.
  9. Bleed the hydraulic brake system. Refer to Hydraulic Brake System Bleeding.
