The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Condition/Concern:

Intermittent unwanted alarm or interior light illumination. The concern may be difficult to duplicate.

Recommendation/Instructions:

There have been a some cases reported and verified that were resolved by replacing a faulty door latch because the Tech II diagnosis indicated a false open/close switch message. The doors that are used infrequently like the Right Rear are the most likely to be causing the concern. Monitor the BCM inputs at each door before opening/closing each door, trunk & hood. Then moniter BCM inputs while opening and closing each of the doors, the hood, and the trunk. Verify the data for the inputs are changing status properly and that none of the inputs are delayed.

The BCM monitors the following inputs:

   •

Driver and passenger door open/close switches

   •

Driver and passenger door ajar switches

   •

Driver and passenger power door lock/unlock switches

   •

Front door lock cylinder disarm switch

   •

Hood ajar switch

   •

Rear compartment lid ajar switch

Note: If the vehicle has been in 2 or more times for the concern & no parts have been replaced, even if the concern cannot be duplicated, replace RR door latch.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
