NEW WARRANTY CLAIM FAILURE CODES

SUBJECT: NEW WARRANTY CLAIM "FAILURE" CODES

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL MODELS

In order to provide more meaningful product information from warranty claims, new Failure (Trouble) Codes have been developed that will enhance the analysis aspect of our products' performance.

This change is the result of a study which concluded the necessity of more accurate identification of warranty repairs (i.e. the complaint cause and correction) in order to improve the root cause analysis process.

These new Failure Codes are designed to be much more specific and will more accurately describe the real cause behind the customer's complaint.

The following list of these new Failure Codes will be used Corporate-wide, by all GM dealers and divisions. This list supersedes Failure Codes published in Section A of all previous Buick Labor Time Guides and will be incorporated in the next Labor Time Guide release scheduled for September. Copies of this list should be made for your personnel (claims administrators, technicians, etc.) who are involved in warranty repairs/ claims submissions.

Implementation of these new Failure Codes is effective on receipt of this bulletin.

This Failure Code change is one more step towards improved product quality by enhancing our ability to better identify product performance concerns. Product quality, the vitally important CSi ingredient, leads to improved customer loyalty to Buick products and your dealership.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
