NOTICE: This bulletin is being reissued to correct omission of 2nd page. Discard original 85-POL-2C, dated May, 1988.

General Motors Service Parts Operations (GMSPO) recently released Parts and Accessories Information Bulletin Number 88-48 addressing requirements for return of steering gears replaced under Special Policy Adjustment. A copy of that bulletin is printed on the following page. Please follow instructions in that bulletin when replacing Rack and Pinion Gears under 85-POL-2.

TO : All GM Dealers

RETURN OF STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLIES

1982-1984 "A, J & X" CARS 1985 "C" CARS, BUICK, CADILLAC, OLDSMOBILE

To assure proper payment for work performed when steering gear assemblies are replaced under this special policy program, the following MUST be supplied with the returned assemblies:

A copy of the repair order including the VIN and the labor operation performed.

The dealer code of the dealer performing the service.

"Special Policy Adjustment" is to be noted in the body of the PC659.

All special policy steering gears must be returned to GMSPO in the original carton in which the replacement part was received. Insert plugs (to prevent oil leakage) on the used core.

Dealers are urged to return these used core units WEEKLY. Normal prepaid transportation will be credited to your account.
