DIESEL RADIATOR HOSE CLAMP PROPER REPLACEMENT

THERE HAVE BEEN SOME INSTANCES WHERE TECHNICIANS MAY NOT BE REINSTALLING THE REQUIRED HOSE CLAMP ASSEMBLY ON THE LOWER RADIATOR HOSE AT THE OUTLET SIDE OF THE WATER PUMP ON 1978-85 MODELS WHEN A 5.7L V8 GOODWRENCH DIESEL ENGINE IS INSTALLED. THE REQUIRED HOSE CLAMP ASSEMBLY, PART NO. 558565 HAS AN ATTACHED GUARD THAT PREVENTS THE AIR CONDITIONING BELT FROM COMING INTO CONTACT WITH THE HOSE. WITH NO GUARD IN PLACE, A LOOSE OR STRETCHED BELT COULD CUT OR WEAR INTO A LOWER RADIATOR HOSE AND COULD CAUSE A COOLANT LEAK.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
