Control Assembly Replacement C60

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel Gauges and Console.

  2. Object Number: 410416  Size: SH
  3. Remove the retaining bolts from the HVAC control assembly.
  4. Pull the control assembly out from the instrument panel.

  5. Object Number: 410422  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connectors and the vacuum harness from the HVAC control assembly.
  7. Remove the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 410422  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connectors and the vacuum harness to the HVAC control assembly.

  2. Object Number: 410416  Size: SH
  3. Install the HVAC control assembly into the instrument panel.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  5. Install the retaining bolts to secure the HVAC control assembly.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the control assembly bolts to 2 N·m (18 lb in).

  7. Install the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel Gauges and Console.

Control Assembly Replacement CJ4 Front

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection
  2. Remove the I/P accessory trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Accessory Trim Plate Replacement in Instrument Panel Gauges and Console.

  3. Object Number: 410372  Size: SH
  4. Remove the HVAC control assembly mounting bolts.

  5. Object Number: 410369  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the electrical connector.
  7. Remove the HVAC control assembly.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 410369  Size: SH
  1. Connect the electrical connector.

  2. Object Number: 410372  Size: SH
  3. Install the heater HVAC control assembly.
  4. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure.   8. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

Control Assembly Replacement CJ4 Rear

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.

  2. Object Number: 478637  Size: SH

    Important: Pull upward on sides of trim plate to release retaining clips.

  3. Remove the front floor console rear accessory trim plate.

  4. Object Number: 478645  Size: SH
  5. Disconnect the rear control assembly electrical connector (1).
  6. Remove the rear control assembly (2) from the front of the rear accessory trim plate by pressing in the four retaining tabs.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 478645  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear control assembly (2) by pressing into place until fully seated into the rear accessory trim plate.
  2. Connect the rear control assembly electrical connector (1).

  3. Object Number: 478640  Size: SH
  4. Install the front floor console rear accessory trim plate onto front floor console.
  5. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
