Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 699549  Size: SH

    Notice: Cap the fittings and plug the holes when servicing the fuel system in order to prevent dirt and other contaminants from entering the open pipes and passages.

    Important: Always maintain cleanliness when servicing fuel system components.

  1. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Relief .
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  3. Disconnect the quick-connect fitting at the inlet of the fuel filter. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  4. Remove the threaded nut fitting at the outlet of the fuel filter.
  5. Drain any remaining fuel into an approved gasoline container.

  7. Remove the fuel filter mounting bracket bolt.
  8. Remove the fuel filter and the mounting bracket.
  9. Remove the fuel filter from the fuel filter mounting bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 699548  Size: SH

    Important: There is not a service interval for fuel filter replacement. Only replace the fuel filter if the filter is restricted.

  1. Remove the protective caps from the new fuel filter.
  2. Install the fuel filter to the fuel filter mounting bracket.
  3. Install the fuel filter and the mounting bracket.
  4. Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  5. Install the fuel filter mounting bracket bolt.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  7. Connect the quick-connect fitting at the inlet of the fuel filter. Refer to Plastic Collar Quick Connect Fitting Service .
  8. Install the threaded nut fitting to the outlet of the fuel filter.
  9. Tighten
    Use a back-up wrench in order to prevent the fuel filter from turning. Tighten the fuel feed pipe fitting nut to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  12. Inspect the fuel system for leaks by performing the following steps:
  13. 9.1. Turn ON the ignition for 2 seconds.
    9.2. Turn OFF the ignition for 10 seconds.
    9.3. Turn ON the ignition.
    9.4. Inspect for fuel leaks.
