SUBJECT: INFORMATION - TWO DIFFERENT SIDEWALL DESIGNS FOR BLACKWALL TIRES

MODELS: 1997 BUICK CENTURY

DUE TO AN INCREASED DEMAND FOR BLACKWALL TIRES, 1997 BUICK CENTURY(S) HAVE HAD TO BE SUPPLIED WITH TWO DIFFERENT BLACK SIDEWALL DESIGNS OF THE P205/70R15 GENERAL AMERI*G4S TIRE. STYLE 1 (SEE FIGURE 1) HAS A TEXTURED OR SERRATED SIDEWALL SURFACE ON THE OUTBOARD SIDE. STYLE 2 (SEE FIGURE 2) HAS THE SMOOTH SIDE, OR THE D.O.T. SERIAL NUMBER SIDE, OF THE SIDEWALL ON THE OUTBOARD SIDE. ALL REPLACEMENT BLACKWALL TIRES WILL BE TEXTURED (SERRATED) ON ONE SIDE, AND SMOOTH ON THE OTHER.

WHEN REPLACING BLACKWALL TIRES ON THE BUICK CENTURY, MATCH THE OUTBOARD SIDEWALL OF THE REPLACEMENT TIRE TO THE OUTBOARD SIDEWALL OF THE ORIGINAL TIRES.

BOTH OF THESE TIRES MEET THE SAME PERFORMANCE SPECIFICATIONS AND HAVE THE SAME TIRE PERFORMANCE CRITERIA NUMBER (TPC 1072 MS).
