REVISED:INSTALLED ALARM SYSTEM PROCEDURE FOR DEFECTIVE PARTS

MODELS AFFECTED: ALL

GMWDD is currently marketing an aftermarket dealer installed alarm system that is not an OEM factory installed option. GMWDD warrants the parts only for 36/36 and the labor for 90 days/4,000 miles. Due to the uniqueness of this system, warranty claims processing and handling are accomplished differently from the usual manner. Any defective parts removed from a vehicle are returned to GMWDD and a new or remanufactured unit is returned to the dealership. The reimbursement for labor should be handled by using labor operation T3163 for the replacement of any single component of this system. This labor operation pays .2 hr. and is for labor only. Payment for parts cannot be submitted on this claim.

Warranty claims on vehicles for which a dealer installed option card has not been submitted will be rejected and returned to the dealer as a 33 reject.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
