SPEEDOMETER CABLE REPAIR KITS TYPE AND PKG. NUMBERS LISTED

AC SPEEDOMETER CABLE KITS: TYPE 615H PACKAGE NO. 6477499 TYPE 615A PACKAGE NO. 846890 TYPE 620H PACKAGE NO. 6479185 TYPE 622LH PACKAGE NO. 6478825 THE ABOVE CABLE KITS SHOULD NOT BE USED FOR GM PASSENGER VEHICLES 1981 AND FORWARD. THESE VEHICLES ARE USING THE NEW GREASE GUARD CABLE DESIGN AND THE LISTED CABLE KITS ARE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE GREASE GUARD DESIGN FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS: (1) RETENTION OF GREASE (2) PUMPING GREASE INTO SPEEDOMETER (3) DISENGAGEMENT OF DRIVE OF THE CABLE TIP (4) CONCENTRICITY REQUIREMENT NOT MET WITH THE CABLE KITS (5) CABLE NOISE GENERATION CAUSED BY ANY OF THE ABOVE. ON 1978 THROUGH 1980 GM VEHICLES, THE ABOVE CABLE KITS CAN BE USED, BUT IT IS PREFERRED THAT THESE MODELS BE SERVICED WITH CABLE AND CASING ASSEMBLIES LISTED FOR THE PARTICULAR APPLICATION. THIS RECOMMENDATION IS MADE TO INSURE NOISE ELIMINATION DUE TO POSSIBLE DAMAGE OF THE CASING ASSEMBLY.
